Derek Stroh is currently seeking interviews on blogs, podcasts, radio, and TV to talk about the album, STAND, and his embracing of internet marketing.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…
Derek Stroh will be releasing the singles from his new album, STAND, via digital distribution within the next 60 days. Derek is an Adult Contemporary Artist with a deep crooner voice, breaking the album using social media, blogging, and twitter.
Chicago, IL-Derek Stroh is releasing his first singles off the STAND album digitally on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, Napster, and eMusic. The unique thing about this independent artist is that he doesn't sound independent. Derek Stroh’s STAND is an Adult Contemporary album that will be played alongside such current favorites as John Mayer, Norah Jones and Jack Johnson. It’s an acoustic guitar-driven album that has some strong originals and a few well-placed covers.
"STAND is about taking a stand for whatever you believe in: Love, politics, and especially yourself. I had to take a stand and fight a lot of my own demons to get this out," says Derek Stroh, singer-songwriter.
Derek Stroh is embracing an internet marketing plan that involves heavy social networking on popular sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter. In addition, he and his team are actively blogging and seeking blogs and podcasts that would like to help break the next big star.
"Thirty years ago you toured before you got a record deal. Twenty years ago you toured after you got a record deal. Now you work the internet into a record deal and then tour. So instead of trying to fight it, I'm enjoying the process."
Just recently Virgin announced that it would be closing its Megastores in North America, further driving music sales online. Terrestrial radio is becoming less and less important with the rise of Internet Radio stations such as Pandora.com that cater specifically to taste rather than to popularity. On a site like Pandora, Derek Stroh has the ability to be played next to John Mayer, Keb Mo, or Norah Jones without having the same recording sales numbers. That kind of exposure isn't possible in the terrestrial radio world.
In the last decade the music industry has gone from being radio- and record store-driven to Internet- and MP3 player-driven. This means that if people can find you on the internet, they can listen to your music, make it part of their online play list, and/or buy the tracks virtually. It's becoming much more democratic in that way, versus when music fans predominately listened to and bought what was on the radio and Top 40.
Derek Stroh is working the internet one blog, one person, one podcast at a time. The break will be getting enough people listening that the music industry starts paying attention, or he gets a song placed on a film, television show, or commercial.
"We are actively seeking media placement opportunities for the music." says Co-producer Tony Woodroffe of NoyzBoyz Entertainment.
The plan is to build up the fan base and then, with feedback and support from the public, launch the album independently. The team is looking to make a splash on Internet Radio and Records online, and then leverage that success into a more traditional deal.
"I think some of the romance is gone. I mean we all have that image of an artist playing and partying till the wee hours of the morning with groupies. Most of the time I'm staying up late on Twitter, MySpace, and returning emails. But the reality is the tour is coming. I can feel it," says Derek Stroh before responding to a text message from Twitter on his phone.
Derek Stroh is releasing his singles to build the fan base, and is looking for help to decide on the album covers, set list, etc. If you join Derek’s mailing list he will send you some downloads and continue to ask questions about promotion ideas and pictures.
"I invite you to visit me online at DerekStrohStand.com and just listen. If the music touches you and you dig it, then join me online and stay in touch. It's really that simple."
